Art Over-Simplified.

I love these minimalist posters of notable artists’ icons and symbols. I’ll admit I could only name five of them but it really goes to show how important themes and “branding” are to an artists legacy. How many can you identify?

5. 6.

I love the idea of having a wall dedicated to these posters as a “collection” of famous artists. Said wall will also serve as a test of your guests’ art knowledge so you can judge them accordingly find commonality in your mutual love of art. Because “…only a true art lover will recognize them all!”

The answers:
1. Andy Warhol (1928–1987)
2. Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890)
3. Piet Mondrian (1872–1944)
4. Jackson Pollock (1912–1956)
5. Mark Rothko (1903–1970)
6. Georgia O’Keeffe (1887–1986)
7. Roy Lichtenstein (1923–1997)
8. Jasper Johns (born 1930)
9. Marc Chagall (1887–1985)
10. Damien Hirst (born 1965)

I named 5. Could not get Lichtenstein’s name right other wise I would have had 6. I be so smart! Thanks Pop Culture PIrate.

  2. I missed Chagall, but those were lousy representations of his work, and same with Jackson Pollock’s, those looked like Reeses peanut butter cups with drips around them.
