Wizard of Oz Experiment

An interesting take on remix and video installations: “The Wizard of Oz experiment” by Dennis Neuschaefer-Rube screens “The Wizard of Oz“ 5,829 times side by side. The filmes are arranged left to right in rows shifted by exactly one second each. The video starts at the top left, with the first second of the film and finishes bottom right with the last second of the film. It’s continuous loop that repeats every 98 minutes while a computer-generated voice speaks the subtitles of the film in a 68-minute loop. Here are the first 2 minutes of the videoinstallation. It’s not my thing narratively speaking, but I always love to see how other people use the source material in a totally new context.
